Remembering Coolio: 1963-2022

It is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye to Coolio, one of the most influential rappers of our generation. He passed away on August 1st, 2020 at the age of 63.

Coolio was born in Los Angeles, California in 1963. He first rose to prominence in the early 1990s with his debut album It Takes a Thief. The album featured the hit single “Fantastic Voyage”, which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Coolio’s biggest claim to fame is his 1995 single “Gangsta’s Paradise”. The song topped the charts in several countries and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

In recent years, Coolio has been an outspoken advocate for the legalization of cannabis. He even launched his own line of CBD products called coolio’s cool weed.

We will never forget Coolio and the impact he had on the world. Rest in peace.
